Hluhluwe murder- and rape-accused taxi driver bail application postponed

The taxi driver, who reportedly raped and forced a 17-year-old girl to drink brake fluid, will be back in court in March

The bail application of a Hluhluwe taxi driver who was last week arrested for rape and murder, has been postponed.

Khayelihle Ntshangase was arrested following the death of Andiswa Mdletshe (17) from Nompondo in Hluhluwe last month.

Mdletshe reportedly boarded a taxi driven by Ntshangase on 29 January, and was raped and forced to drink brake fluid.

She reported the incident to her parents and subsequently died.

Ntshangase first appeared in the Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court last week but because the court is a periodical one, the application was moved to Mtubatuba on Monday where it was postponed for the bail application to continue in Hluhluwe on Tuesday, 7 March.

KZN Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old man for rape.

It was reported that when Mdletshe arrived home after her traumatic experience, she was in tears and throwing up, shivering and complaining of stomach pain.
