Woman traumatised after brazen home invasion

Although nothing was taken, Thusi said the estimated cost of damage is around R200 000

An Empangeni businesswoman and her six-year-old son are traumatised after armed men entered their home on Saturday night.

Sindi Thusi (46) of Tiger Garden explained that her son was asleep and she was preparing for midnight prayer when she noticed a group of men walking past her window.

“When I realised these men were heavily armed, I got my cellphone to notify the neighbours that there were criminals in our complex. I called most of my relatives, including my pastor and two daughters living in Johannesburg, about what was happening.

“These armed guys were wearing balaclavas, and they started knocking on doors saying they were looking for drugs. They did not invade any homes apart from mine. I think it’s because they found husbands and wives in other houses. I was so afraid and was panicking.
