Hefty sentence for medical aid fraudster
She appeared at the Richards Bay Magistrate's court where she was sentenced to direct imprisonment
A woman convicted of medical aid fraud in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court this week was sentenced to 18 months direct imprisonment.
Nokulunga Princess Mbuyazi was found guilty of fraud estimated at R6 000 after she unlawfully used the complainant’s medical aid for purchases.
It is believed the victim and medical aid holder was at a pharmacy in Richards Bay to purchase medication when she was informed there were no funds available for over-the-counter purchases.
The complainant made enquiries at her medical aid offices and a statement was issued.
Upon analysing the documents, it was discovered that there were unauthorised purchases made at a pharmacy in Richards Bay.
Upon further investigations, the suspect was identified and made several court appearances before the sentencing last week.
