Severe wind alert for KZN coast

Damaging winds expected along the coast of Richards Bay this afternoon

Batten down the hatches, it’s going to be a windy afternoon.

This as the South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level two warning for damaging winds along the KZN coast between Port Edward and Richards Bay.

The warning is in effect until 6pm today (Monday) and comes as parts of the Western Cape are suffering floods and landslides.

Wind speeds of about 25 knots (46km/h) are expected along the KZN coast, gusting 40 knots (74km/h) in places.

The wind is expected to lessen during the course of the afternoon.

Potential impacts include localised damage to properties and temporary structures, disruption to roads from crosswinds and potential fallen objects, and local disruptions to ports.
