Schools encouraged to book early to visit Logos Hope ‘floating library’

The 'edu ship' will be docked in Richards Bay from 21 January to 19 February

Schools in the region are urged to make their ship visit bookings for learners ahead of the arrival of the MV Logos Hope next week.

The world’s largest floating library will arrive in Richards Bay for a four week stay from 21 January to 19 February, and schools are invited to confirm their group bookings which are open to all schools.

Project manager Eiki Endo said school visits will run from Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am to 1pm, but bookings are essential and every 10 children must be accompanied by one adult.

Plans have been under way to ensure the crew from the Logos Hope are ready for the masses from Tuesday, with members also going into the local communities for outreach efforts.

”Reservations must be made for group bookings, which are only confirmed when the schools receive an official reply.

”In the case of fully booked slots, we may request an alternative date and we will work hard to accommodate the requests.

”We also have some exciting events, with a children’s play The Greatest Treasure showcasing on Thursdays, 25 January, and 1 and 8 February from 9am to 10am and 11am to 12 noon.

Schools need to be on site 15 minutes before starting time.”

The operating hours for the public are Tuesday to Sunday from 1pm to 7pm during the ship’s stay.

For reservations, schools must email sarah.mueller@gbaships.org
