Man dies in Empangeni shooting incident

Thursday morning got off to a bloody start as a man was shot dead at his residence in Empangeni on Cactus Drive, which is located near two schools.

It is reported that the victim had stopped in the middle of his driveway to check on his leaking water meter system.

He reportedly jumped out of his vehicle, leaving his child in the passenger seat.

He inspected the meter before heading back into the house to retrieve something.

As he entered his home, two male suspects followed him inside and shot him before fleeing the residence.
Emergency services who responded found him dead on the scene.

One lane on Cactus Drive was closed off so that emergency services could deal with the matter.
Police investigations are ongoing.
