WATCH: Fiery cash-in-transit heist near Gingindlovu

Wednesday's cash-in-transit (CIT) heist along the R66 near Gingindlovu follows a botched CIT robbery on the same road on Monday morning

THE driver of a cash vehicle suffered multiple gunshot wounds during a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred along the R66 near Gingindlovu.

IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the scene and stabilised the driver before transporting him to hospital for further medical care.

The driver’s crew were uninjured during the ordeal.

In video footage during the rounds in the public domain, the cash vehicle can be seen ablaze, with money strewn across the road.

According to reports from the scene, the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The road was closed for some time while the scene was cleared and police forensics teams started investigations.

Wednesday’s heist comes after a botched CIT robbery along the same road on Monday morning, near Ndundulu.

In Monday’s incident, the suspects left the scene empty-handed.
