Mtubatuba police condemn acts of vigilantism after man's burnt body found
Kwamsane SAPS are hot on the heels of suspects after a burnt body was found at eMfekayi, Mtubatuba on Friday morning.
The body was reportedly burnt beyond recognition and the victim, a man, has not yet been identified.
The police have strongly condemned this act of vigilantism and have said that those behind it are now ‘most wanted criminals’.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said the police received a call at around 8.30am, notifying them that a burnt body had been found at a sports field near the train tracks in eMfekayi.
Hlabisa said no one has identified the victim, whom it appears may have been severely assaulted before being set alight.
“The police urge members of the public to do away with vigilantism. Anyone with information about this act of vigilantism is urged to come forward so we can arrest the criminals who take the law into their own hands,” said Hlabisa.
He urged communities to remember that police stations, courts, including tribal ones, and CPFs are there to assist them with resolving disputes.
“We are lucky in Mtubatuba that we have two police stations, one in town with a policing area starting from the eastern side of the N2 all the way to the ocean and covering Nkundise and Qakwini and parts of eMfekayi, and another in KwaMsane which covers the rest of the Mtubatuba area,” explained Hlabisa.
He said those with information can either contact 10111 or him on 082 5580130.
The burnt body, he added, was taken to the government mortuary and a post-mortem will be done to determine the victim’s cause of death; whether they died from being burnt or were killed before their body was set alight.
Hlabisa said a case of murder has been registered at the KwaMsane Police Station.}
