5 detained for dagga possession in Pongola

Five suspects, including two illegal immigrants, were arrested for possession of dagga

POLICE arrested five suspects, aged between 22 and 40 years, for possession of dagga in Pongola on Friday morning.

Zululand Cluster police spokesperson Nkosie Gwala explained that Golela CP and the SANDF were conducting a routine operation at the Pongola Nature Reserve, Golela POE Main Road, when they attempted to stop a suspicious-looking vehicle.

Ignoring the authorities, the driver sped off.

“Members proceeded to give chase and the driver was forced to stop at the N2 intersection. They searched the car and five big bags of dagga were recovered,” he said.

The suspects, two of whom were illegal immigrants, were arrested and detained at Pongola SAPS.
