Scam alert: Empangeni police issue warning over recruitment processes
Police urged the community not to pay for jobs

THE police in Empangeni on Monday warned the public not to pay money to secure a job at SAPS.
This comes after one victim received a telephone call explaining that as she has missed the departure to the college, she must pay money to join as she was not found when called.

According to King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase, the conman introduces himself as Sergeant Gumede from Empangeni Police Station, working in the recruitment unit.
Shangase said the matter has reached Empangeni Police Station and they do not have anyone by the name of Sergeant Gumede. He says this process is not in line with the SAPS recruitment policy.
