No cash payments at licensing offices from 1 April

Discontinuation of cash payments at motor licensing offices as of next week

Motorists visiting licensing offices will no longer be able to make cash payments as of 1 April.

This was announced by the KZN Department of Transport, reminding motorists of the discontinuation of cash payments, with only debit or credit card payments to be accepted.

According to the department, the change is owing to safety and security reasons amid ongoing efforts to curb criminal activity, including fraud and corruption.

This as the department forges ahead with its digital transformation strategy, which it says ‘focuses on transforming not only the transportation sector but also the department internally’.

The migration comes as the licensing offices continue to facilitate the changeover of vehicle licences to the new ZN plate system.
