Car smashes into parked tow truck in Empangeni

THINGS got hairy in Empangeni late last night (Saturday) when a Golf GTI smashed into a stationary breakdown vehicle along Main Road.

The collision occurred around midnight.

The tow truck was parked on the central island on the R34 Main Road at the intersection with the R102.

“The breakdown vehicle briefly caught fire, but thanks to fast action, it was calmed down before things got too spicy,” said Joe Kruger of Mounties EMS who responded to the scene.

Mounties paramedics treated an injured passenger on scene and transported them to hospital for a full check-up.

Three other occupants walked away uninjured.
