Food security in focus at first African G20 Summit

G20 Food Security Task Force meeting was preceded by the G20 Agricultural Working Group meeting held over two days

HOSTING the G20 Summit presents a significant opportunity for South Africa to impact global food security, sustainable agriculture, and farmer development.

This was the sentiment of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa, speaking at a Food Security Task Force meeting in Durban on Friday.

South Africa took the G20 Presidency from Brazil late last year – the first to be held in Africa – with the provinces lining up a marathon of programmes as a precursor to the main G20 meeting in November.
