Police hunt fugitive ‘Masiliva’ over 2018 attempted murder of KZN taxi boss
Detectives urge public to help them find a fugitive, wanted since 2018 in connection with taxi violence-related attempted murder
Detectives investigating taxi violence-related matters in KZN seek the assistance of community members in locating a fugitive.
Richard Zwakushiwo Dlamini, who is also known as ‘Masiliva’, has been on the run since January 2018 when he is alleged to have attempted to kill the chairperson of a taxi association in Msinga.
KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda alleges that on 2 January 2018, the victim had finished a taxi-related meeting and was seated inside his bakkie when Dlamini and an accomplice accosted him.
“They shot him multiple times with rifles. The victim somehow survived the heavy gunfire and a case of attempted murder was opened for investigation.
“Dlamini’s accomplice was later shot and killed at a well-known taxi rank in Johannesburg. Dlamini, who has minibus taxis operating in Gauteng and Msinga, is believed to be hiding in Johannesburg.
“Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is urged to contact Warrant Officer Mbatha on 076 5251793 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” said Netshiunda.
