Richards Bay pastor accused of multiple sexual assaults on minors and teen granted bail, case returns to court in June.

Facing six counts of sexual assault on minors, as well as a 19 year old, a local minister in his fifties was on Monday granted R3 000 bail in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court.

The pastor, who is accused of violating several victims between 2023 and 2025 near the church premises, made his first court appearance on 13 May and was held in custody pending his bail application this week.

The cases were opened at the end of April.

In the first two counts, it is alleged the accused unlawfully and intentionally sexually violated a 19-year-old complainant in April by forcing himself onto the complainant and trying to kiss her. It is further alleged that he touched her buttocks the following day.

On the other counts involving minors between the ages of 13 and 15 years old, the victims alleged violations ranging from kissing, to being touched on their breasts, thighs and buttocks on various occasions.

The matter is expected to be back in court on 25 June.
