Zululand weekend weather: Sunshine before Monday cold front hits
Cold fronts to bring snow to 8 provinces—KZN to bask in weekend sunshine with highs near 30°C before rain hits next week.
A double whammy of cold fronts is set to hit South Africa this weekend, leading to the possibility of snowfall in eight out of South Africa’s nine provinces.
This is according to Vox Weather’s advanced snowfall forecast issued on Wednesday.

Synoptic charts shared by the SA Weather Service (SAWS) earlier in the week show cold fronts lining up to the south-east of the country, expected to make landfall in the Western Cape on Saturday.
This means a warm weekend for KZN and the Zululand region, as the warm front typically precedes the cold front.
The initial cold front will bring bitterly cold wintry weather to the southern parts of South Africa over the weekend, with a cut-off low expected to develop on Monday behind the cold front.
As a result, temperatures are expected to plummet across the country, bringing snowfall to Lesotho, as well as the nearby Sani Pass and Underberg.
Disruptive snowfall is likely to occur in the Lesotho regions around Sani Pass, as well as Underberg and in Barkly East and surrounds in the Eastern Cape.
While there is a potential for snowfall in Gauteng, this could change closer to the time.
“Cut-off lows are unpredictable, and the forecast can change quickly from day to day. “This means snowfall over Gauteng and nearby areas is still highly uncertain, and it may disappear from the forecast entirely or shift to a chance of freezing rain instead,” said Vox Weather.
Closer to home, Zululanders can expect a beautiful sunny and warm weekend bringing highs of 30 and 29 on Saturday and Sunday respectively in Richards Bay, dropping to 22 with rain on Monday, while Tuesday and Wednesday will see 18 and 17 respectively.
Empangeni can expect 28 and 29 on Saturday and Sunday, dropping to 20 and 18 on Monday and Tuesday; further inland eShowe residents are in for 25 and 24 on Saturday and Sunday, 16 and 18 on Monday and Tuesday; while in Mtubatuba, 26 and 28 over the weekend, followed by 22 and 18 with rain on Monday and Tuesday.
