THE N2 between Richards Bay and KwaMbonambi has been a no-go zone today (Thursday) after a multi-truck pile-up early this morning.

The freeway was reportedly closed in both directions owing to an accident involving two trucks, which occurred just before 5am at eNseleni.

Community WhatsApp groups were flooded with messages from stranded motorists, stuck in the heavily backed up traffic jam since before sunrise.

It is unclear as to whether or not any injuries were sustained by either of the truck drivers involved in the accident.

The trucks were removed by towing services earlier this morning, and at 9am the clean-up of the debris was being finalised, with a stop-go in place for motorists.
