Join Zululand’s own Survivor star and donate blood this Mandela Day
Richards Bay Blood Donor Clinic urges the public to donate a unit this Nelson Mandela International Day
With just two weeks to go until Mandela Day commemorations, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is calling on the public to spend their 67 minutes of goodwill donating blood.
Zululand celebrity and Survivor SA 2019 winner Rob Bentele will join donors for a meet-and-greet at the Richards Bay Blood Donor Centre in Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre while championing the Mandela Day drive with local real estate agency Leapfrog Property.

Now in its seventh year, Leapfrog has been promoting the blood drive and aims to meet 80 pints of collected blood on the day.
Donors are also encouraged to donate throughout July.
In 2009, on former president Nelson Mandela’s birthday, the United Nations declared 18 July Nelson Mandela International Day.
The call was made for people to donate 67 minutes of their time – representing the 67 years of his life that Mandela gave to social justice – to community service.
The campaign has now shifted to encouraging individuals and organisations to act throughout the year – not just on one day.
By donating a unit of blood every eight weeks, blood donors can live up to this ideal by contributing throughout the year.
SANBS calls on new donors, including high school and tertiary students, to visit blood donor centres during the holiday break.
