Frail care centre needs urgent financial support

Frail care centre on farm outside Mtunzini needs help to keep doors open

A beautiful old farmhouse outside Mtunzini has opened its doors to the elderly and those in need of medical care – but without urgent funding, the centre’s future is uncertain.

Lavender Lane Care Centre, located in Obanjeni, offers affordable care for elderly and medically vulnerable people.
It continues the mission of the former Holy Cross Hospice Emoyeni in Gingindlovu, founded by the late Sister Priscilla Dlamini, who cared for thousands of HIV/Aids patients over 30 years.

After the original premises were reclaimed by the church, the centre relocated to a former health spa, generously offered by Lorraine and Neil Goodman. Renovations were made, and patients moved in this May.

A registered NPO, it has space for 10 patients but currently cares for two.

With international funding depleted, a Back-a-Buddy campaign has been launched, as they fear without help their doors will be closed in August.

To help, contact Debbie Killoran at financeholycrosshospice@gmail.com or 064 9452943.

Additionally, their bank details are: Holy Cross Hospice, Standard Bank, Account: 311092500, Branch code: 002575. Ref# – LL (your name & date).
