Gill net poachers take another hit from patrollers at Richards Bay harbour

Operation yielding results as gill net poachers continues to target Richards Bay harbour

Patrolling the harbour area on Monday night, members of the Anti-Poaching Reaction Unit (APRU) disrupted illegal gill net activities and confiscated a major haul of poaching equipment.

The operation nabbed a boat with four oars, and three gill nets measuring 2km in length and more than 200 target fish.

The haul represents another great success by the APRU, which works alongside the SAPS Waterwing, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and the Environment.
