Public pools open this week

City of uMhlathuze reopens public municipal swimming pools this Thursday, 4 September

WITH the winter season officially over and warmer weather upon us, public swimming pools across the City of uMhlathuze are set to reopen as of Thursday, 4 September.

The following pools will officially open on Thursday:

  • Mereensee Swimming Pool
  • Arboretum Swimming Pool
  • Aquadene Swimming Pool
  • Brackenham Swimming Pool
  • Nseleni Swimming Pool
  • Ngwelezane Swimming Pool
  • Empangeni Swimming Pool and
  • eSikhawini Swimming Pool

The reopening of Vulindlela Swimming Pool will be announced later in the week.

The municipality has, however, warned members of the public to adhere to the rules at the public facilities to ensure the safety of all bathers.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a person of 16 years or older.
  • No flotation devices are allowed.
  • No alcohol is allowed on premises. 
  • No braais are allowed.
  • No running and diving allowed.
  • Only swim in pairs or as a group. 
  • Bathing ceases half an hour before official closing.
