Christmas tree décor showcase in Empangeni
DIY Christmas tree showcase to be held in Empangeni from Friday, 31 October to Saturday, 1 November
With Christmas just around the corner, the NG Kerk Empangeni is spreading the festive cheer with their Christmas tree décor showcase.
The showcase is to be held from Friday, 31 October to Saturday, 1 November at the church premises at 8 Kerk Street, Empangeni.
Last year’s inaugural DIY Christmas tree showcase drew 38 entries, with trees creatively made out of wood, paper, wool, books, pasta shells, tools, and more.

On Friday, 31 October, there will be takeaway curry and rice, vetkoek and mince, with the church’s famous pancakes available on an order-and-collect basis.
On the Saturday, the DIY Christmas tree showcase takes place. Two new categories have been added this year: DIY centrepiece or small Christmas tree, and Open category (any medium, 50x50cm) – including wreaths, knitwear, crochet, paintings, table décor, tree decorations, woodwork, paper, and more.
There will also be gift-wrapping demonstrations, table décor displays, boerewors on the braai, and a tea garden at R80 per person, which includes tea and coffee.
Christmas gift stalls will be available for those looking to buy unique DIY gifts. To book a stall, contact Lynette on 081 4772567.
For children, there will be a photo booth, jumping castle and kiddies’ corner with adult supervision while parents enjoy their refreshments.
With limited tickets available, be sure to book early or enter the DIY tree competition by contacting Annatjie on 082 7877290 or Zonia on 082 9600037.
