One more illegal firearm off KZN’s streets

The suspect is due to appear before the Nyoni Magistrate's Court soon

POLICE in Sundumbili are determined to remove all illegal firearms from society, with the Crime Prevention unit getting closer to this goal on Friday.

Following a police tip-off, one suspect (49) was arrested for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition in eZimphongo.

“After interviewing [the suspect], he was searched, and a 9mm Norinco with a serial number filed off was found in his possession, including four live rounds of ammunition,” said SAPS communications officer Priya Nunkumar.

She said he was subsequently arrested, with the recovered firearm sent for ballistic testing.

The suspect is due to appear before the Nyoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
