55-year-old motorist sentenced for drunk driving

eSikhawini Regional Court sentences 55-year-old man to a R15 000 fine or one year imprisonment for drunk driving

An eSikhaleni motorist arrested during festive season clampdown operations was last week found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.

eSikhawini Regional Court found Bongani Armstrong Langa (55) guilty and sentenced him to a R15 000 fine or one year imprisonment.

Welcoming the conviction, SAPS acting commissioner of King Cetshwayo District, Brigadier Mandlakayise Mhlongo said, “Driving under the influence causes accidents on our roads, and these accidents lead to deaths, especially during the festive season and over the weekends.”
