Pedestrian killed while crossing road in Empangeni

A female pedestrian was killed on Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Main Road near Five Ways Mall in Empangeni.

The incident has caused severe traffic congestion, with vehicles backed up towards Empangeni Rail during the busy rush-hour period.

Motorists travelling in the area were urged to exercise caution and consider alternative routes as emergency services and police remain on the scene.

The body of the deceased, who has not yet been identified, remained at the scene as authorities continued their investigation.

Police have since taken the driver involved in the incident away for further questioning.
