WATCH: ‘We are failing the people of uMhlathuze’, says city’s deputy mayor

Unresolved sewer spill onto Richards Bay property highlights service delivery issues in the City of uMhlathuze

City of uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha has expressed serious concern regarding the slow delivery of services to residents.

Botha was this week inspecting a sewer spill at a residence in Birdswood under Ward 4, alongside councillor Rynie Kearns.

According to the deputy mayor, the sewage flowing into the backyard of the private residence has been ongoing for months, and despite being reported multiple times, the problem has yet to be resolved.

“Some attempts were made over the weekend to try and resolve the matter, but this is what residents have to live with,” said Botha.

“This is not service delivery, we are failing the people of uMhlathuze.”
