Stolen vehicle intercepted along the R34 towards Ulundi

A 53-year-old driver was arrested in possession of a stolen Toyota Hilux double cab in Babanango on Tuesday.

The vehicle was intercepted along the R34 towards Ulundi after police received a tip-off and set up an operation.

Zululand Cluster police spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala said Ulundi Municipality traffic members, the K9 Unit, and Vryheid Vispol members jointly conducted an operation in Ulundi.

“During the inspection [of the vehicle], it was discovered that the licence disc was fake. It was also discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen at Garsfontein SAPS in Gauteng.

“The driver was arrested and the vehicle taken to Babanango SAPS. He is due to appear in the Babanango Magistrate’s Court soon,” she said.
