WATCH: Family loses personal items in house blaze

Ngwelezane family's four-room home gutted by fire

Nothing could be salvaged at the time of arrival of the City of uMhlathuze firefighters when a bedroom of the Ndlovu family’s four-room home in Ngwelezane was gutted by fire last Wednesday.

It’s believed that the fire started at a faulty air-conditioning unit, destroying all personal documents and clothes for two of the four family members.

Family spokesperson Bulelwa Mbongwa (46) said she was at work when the horrifying news from home reached her.

“My daughters’ and grandchildren’s room is the one that is destroyed. They lost IDs and birth certificates along with all their clothes,” said Mbongwa.

Any good Samaritan who wishes to help the fire victims rebuild their lives can contact community activist Dalicebo Mthiyane on 064 9094012.
