The predictable pattern of newly-promoted sides finding themselves out of their depth at PSL level has truly been debunked by Milford FC.

Their convincing 5-1 win over neighbours Richards Bay FC on Sunday was further evidence that the Stallions have what it takes to compete with the best, as they climbed to 5th place on the log table.

Three wins and two draws have seen them earn 11 points, and their resolve will again be put to the test on Sunday in another KZN derby, this time against Durban City.

What is certain is that coach Dr Xanti Pupuma, known as ‘Maradonna’ in his playing days, will not abandon his side’s aggressive, confrontational style that has seen them boss their opponents to date.

They have a squad of strong, speedy and fearless performers who love to play on the front foot, but at the same time they are solid in defence.

There’s also plenty of ball skill, with the likes of Siphosethu Ndlabi, Mvelo Zikakayo, Menzi Chili and Bulelani Sigomoshe able to give a torrid time to defenders.

The Durban City game will be a true test of exactly where they are right now and, astute tactician that he is, Pupuma is favoured to come up with the game plan to grab another three points.
