BLOGGING THE VIEW: Films to hit the big screen in 2025

Don't let the winter blues get you down, check out some of the big films still set to come out this year!

The year is already halfway through but that doesn’t mean the best is behind us!

As the winter chill kicks in, now is the time to cosy up with some popcorn and a great film – and there are lots in store in 2025.

Here’s a look at 13 great upcoming films – many of them sequels or remakes for the nostalgic among us.

Blockbusters
· Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (Part Two): The time has finally come. After 8 instalments dating back to 1996, Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in what’s expected to be the franchise’s explosive finale.

· Fantastic Four (MCU) – First Steps: Marvel’s First Family – Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing – officially enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe, setting up a major new phase.

· TRON – Ares: Jared Leto stars in the newest instalment of the cult digital sci-fi series.

· Avatar 3 – Fire & Ash: James Cameron continues his epic Pandora saga with more stunning visuals and deeper world building.

Dramas & action
· Michael: A biopic of Michael Jackson, starring his real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson.

· Alto Knights: A gangster drama starring Robert De Niro in dual roles as 1950s mob bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, directed by Barry Levinson.

· Ballerina: A John Wick spin-off set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, starring Ana de Armas as a deadly assassin out for revenge.

· 28 Years Later: A long-awaited continuation of Danny Boyle’s iconic post-apocalyptic horror series starring Ralph Fiennes.

Animation
· Smurfs (animated musical): This is a new musical, live-action comedy with Rihanna voicing Smurfette, and a great ensemble cast.

· Lilo & Stitch (live action): Disney reimagines the classic animated tale with a live-action twist.

· How to Train Your Dragon (live action): This is a new take on the beloved story of Hiccup and Toothless.

Whether you’re looking for something to keep you on the edge of your seat, or just a bit of a walk down memory lane, there are some great films still to hit the big screen this year, so don’t despair!
