BLOGGING THE VIEW: 7 games to play on Christmas Day
Bring family and friends closer this Christmas with a few fun games!
With only 3 sleeps left until the magical Christmas Day, plans are surely in full swing as family and friends arrive to celebrate together.
This can often be quite a stressful time, particularly for those hosting, but playing a few fun games can cut the tension and bring everyone closer. Here are 7 fun games you could try.
1. Santa Limbo
Everyone has to grab a pillow and put it under their shirts to imitate the fat Santa belly. Place a long limbo stick at an appropriate height and everyone has to limbo under the stick as it gets gradually lower. This is not one for those with bad backs!
2. Stocking Guessing Game
Fill a stock with a selection of random items and close it with a string or ribbon. Everyone must then sit in a circle passing the stocking around, and having a feel. Everyone gets to jot down what items they think are in the stocking, and the person with the most correct items wins!
3. Christmas Memory
Someone can draw or you can print some Christmas-themed pictures in pairs, making 16, 32, or more pairs depending on the number of players. Place all the cards face down on a table, and then everyone takes a turn in picking two cards in an effort to match them. If you get a match, you get a point and a chance to try again.
4. Christmas Pictionary
This follows the same rules as normal Pictionary but with a bit of a Christmas twist! Write down a list of Christmas-themed topics on separate flash cards and divide the players into teams. Each team is given a minute to draw the item and guess what it is, alternating artists each time. Play until one team reaches a pre-determined number of points, or you run out of cards.
5. Christmas Charades
Another classic with a Christmas theme, Charades is a fun way to demonstrate everyone’s acting skills. Separate your guests into teams and give them a selection of Christmas-themed topics to act out. This can be anything from Christmas items to Christmas movies, songs, and books. Then give everyone a limited amount of time to act out the topic, with points awarded for correct guesses.
6. Christmas Hunt
This is a fun one for the little ones, combining the joy of Christmas and the excitement of a treasure hunt in one. Take a variety of Christmas items – baubles are a good option – and hide them around the house or garden. They then have to collect as many as possible.
7. Blindfold Drawing
There are a few ways to do this. You can either get a piece of paper and a pen, or a paper plate placed on someone’s head and a pen. The person drawing is blindfolded, while the other person is given an image to describe. They have to work together to get as close as possible to the depicted image.
Have a very Merry Christmas!
