Manhunt launched after Telkom store robbery

Cellular phones, money and other goods stolen amounted to an estimated R69 894

Mtubatuba police are searching for three male suspects following last week’s armed robbery at the Telkom store at Mtuba Mall.

Cellular phones, money and other goods stolen on the day of the incident amounted to an estimated R69 894.

Police spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said a courier service employee’s cellphones, house and office keys were also stolen.

“Three black males entered the shop pretending to buy airtime. One pulled out a firearm and demanded the safe keys. The manager handed the keys to him. Three employees were forced inside the store room and were locked in by the suspects,” said Hlabisa.

The suspects reportedly left the mall after the robbery, exiting at the main entrance and entering a vehicle opposite Top T.

The vehicle is reportedly a white Hyundai Accent with the registration number ND 75383.

It was reported that the vehicle has no hub caps on the wheels. The vehicle then left and sped towards the N2.
