Richards Bay FC stumble at first hurdle

After a goalless first half at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, the home side scored twice through Sandile Mthethwa (50th minute) and Sizwe Mdlinzo (82nd) before Siyabonga Vilane pulled one back for NRB before the final whistle.

HAVING been messed around all week by the bungling PSL promotion/relegation court quarrels, and being left in limbo for five days, Richards Bay FC showed plenty of determination in a narrow 2-1 loss away to Chippa United this (Saturday) afternoon.

After a goalless first half at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, the home side scored twice through Sandile Mthethwa (50th minute) and Sizwe Mdlinzo (82nd) before Siyabonga Vilane pulled one back for NRB before the final whistle.

That late goal might prove decisive as the mini league progresses, as goal difference might come into play.

That being said, it remains to be seen whether Royal AM will continue to try to win promotion via the courts rather than on the field of play.

They have threatened to go to the Supreme Court if necessary to gain automatic promotion and couldn’t care less what part they are playing in making a farce of the playoffs. Who knows if and when the next game will take place?
