Help stray cats by swimming on Madiba Day

Richards Bay swimming club calls for support in fundraising for Project Feral Cat NPO on Mandela Day

UShaka Swimming Club is running a fundraiser for Project Feral Cat (PFC) this Madiba Day, Friday, 18 July.

The children from the club will swim at the Brackenham community pool at 9am for 67 minutes, raising funds with each 25m lap they swim.

The club encourages each swimmer to get sponsored – any amount per 25m length is welcome. Swimmers will see how many 25m laps they can complete in the time.

For example, by sponsoring R1 per 25m, if a child swims 80x25m laps in 67 minutes, they will be sponsored R80.

Donations of cat food are also welcome, and can be dropped off at the Brackenham pool on the day.

Project Feral Cat works to control stray cat populations in Richards Bay, Empangeni and surrounding areas by trapping, neutering and releasing cats back into their territories.

The NPO is headed by Heilke Ackerman and supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who feed numerous colonies of sterilised cats, and they need the public’s help.
