WATCH: uMhlathuze soccer pitch rehabilitation well under way

Work under way to repair badly damaged uMhlathuze soccer stadium pitch

Good news for football fans as replacement grass to replenish the damaged uMhlathuze Soccer Stadium pitch arrived on Thursday.

The Zululand Observer was at the stadium while work was feverishly under way to get the field game-ready once again.

The newly-grassed surface was all but destroyed during the Premier’s Cup two weeks ago, which saw five games played on a rain saturated pitch during the course of the weekend.

The playing surface is assured to be ready for action on Tuesday, 26 August as the stadium is set to host its first PSL encounter since 2021 when Richards Bay FC play Chippa United.

Saturday, 9 August: Richards Bay FC v Marumo Gallants at King Zwelithini Stadium 3pm

Wednesday, 13 August: Golden Arrows v Richards Bay FC at King Zwelithini Stadium 7.30pm

Tuesday, 19 August: Kaizer Chiefs v Richards Bay FC at FNB Stadium 7.30pm

Tuesday, 26 August: Richards Bay FC v Chippa United at uMhlathuze Stadium 7.30pm

Friday, 29 August: Siwelele FC v Richards Bay FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium 7.30pm
