No arrest yet in Empangeni Meter taxi owner killing
No arrest has been made yet and the motive has not been established.
There are still no leads following the killing of a meter taxi owner who was shot by unknown gunmen on Saturday while sitting in his car on Smith Street in Empangeni.
According to a source at the scene, the victim, identified as Qhaphowakhe Nxele, was allegedly visiting his uncle who works at KFC Pawn Shop.
King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson, Captain Siyanda Shangase, said Nxele was parked in front of the shop when the gunmen attacked.
He was shot several times and declared dead at the scene.
“His Toyota Etios was left on the scene and his belongings were still intact including the firearm he had with him. We strongly believe that this was a planned hit on him,” said Shangase.
He said no arrest has been made yet and the motive has not been established.
