Riding to school

getting to school made easier

Getting to school has become easier for 12 Nkabinde Primary School learners.

The children are now riding to school, thanks to the bicycles they received on March 20.

The bicycles were given to the 12 pupils as part of the Gauteng East District, Shovakalula project.

Children from Grade Four to Grade Seven who walk a minimum of 5km to school benefited from the project.

According to the principal Humphrey Chiloane, training on riding bicycles was provided by the KwaThema EMPD.

The principal also said the handover was hosted in the presence of parents.

“It was explained to the parents and children that they are responsible for the upkeep of the bicycles and to ensure they are only used to travel to school,” Chiloane said.

The bicycles also include helmets, which are meant to keep the youngsters protected.
