Woman opens rape case after being assaulted while walking home

KwaThema - A woman (19) reported to police she was raped while on her way home from Bahama Bar on Saturday night.

KwaThema – A woman (19) reported to police she was raped while on her way home from Bahama Bar on Saturday night.

She says a man, who was not armed, approached her.

KwaThema police spokesperson Peter Tebeila says the victim alleges the man forced her to an open field and raped her.

“She says he then forced her to walk to a nearby house and raped her again in an outside toilet.

“After raping her he demanded she take off her shoes and he ran away.

“She screamed for help and neighbours came out to see what was happening,” Tebeila says.

“The woman was taken to the KwaThema Police Station where she opened a case of rape.

“The victim says she doesn’t know the suspect but would recognise him if she saw him again,” he says.
