Attempt to solve conflict turns bad

“He tried to find out from the men what was wrong but they turned on him by pointing a firearm at him."

KwaThema – A 32-year-old man almost died after attempting to be a mediator between two groups of people fighting.

It is alleged the man was on his way as usual to collect staff workers.

KwaThema police spokesman, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says the complainant explained he was surprised by a group of people standing in the middle of the road.

“When he approached he realised some of the people were some of the people he had come to collect.

“He tried to find out from the men what was wrong but they turned on him by pointing a firearm at him.

“The three men demanded money from him. He explained he did not have any.

“ One of the men opened fire on the quantum and they all ran away,” he says.

Sibuyi says the police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

“No one has been arrested and the investigations are still underway,” he says.
