Top achievers receive awards

KwaThema – Laban Mothlabi Comprehensive High School held a Learner Prize Giving Ceremony for 21 learners on Friday.

The event was held to celebrate and honour hardworking learners by the SGB and the Pioneers Trustee Committee (Alumni).

Chairperson of the Pioneers Trustee Committee (Alumni), Antoinette Maluleke says the initiative is held on a quarterly term basis to encourage and motivate learners to work hard in class.

Top performing learners from Laban Mothlabi Comprehensive High School received awards from Pioneers Trustee Committee (Alumni).

“ We have identified that learners and educators go through a lot of challenges which are promoted by poverty, violence, drug abuse which results in parents, educators and learners being demotivated and demoralized on their studies.

“We believe through this programme we will be able to boost their confidence in the process promote sound future leaders from this community.

“As Pioneers Trustee Committee (Alumni), we decided to help the school and learners by enrolling this initiative to motivate the learners to bring their A-game in class to be crowned amongst the cream of the school.”

This prize-giving ceremony is the beginning of ensuring that the running of the school is adequately carried through.

Antoinette says six top-performing learners received tablets and goodie bags while the rest of the other learners received goodie bags with toiletries and certificates.

“We are calling on local business people to come forward to assist us with donations in forms of stationaries which will be handed-over to the top-achievers,” she adds.
