Fake police officers hijack man in Tsakane

“The cars started to speed off, he was then instructed to look down. It was then that he realised he was being hijacked.”

Tsakane – Four men posing as police officers hijacked a resident of his Mercedes-Benz AMG with registration HY51KRGP in Malandela Street, Tsakane, on Wednesday.

The complainant alleged he was driving along Malandela Street when he was stopped by a white Golf 6 using a siren and blue lights.

In the car were four occupants who were dressed in police uniforms.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says the complainant explained that three of the occupants got out of the car and one of them went to his window armed with a firearm in his hand.

“He asked him where he got the car that he is driving and ordered him to get out of his car.

“He was then escorted into their car and one of the men drove his car.

“The cars started to speed off, he was then instructed to look down. It was then that he realised he was being hijacked,” she says.

Mngomezulu adds that the complainant was also robbed of his money.

“The victim was later dropped in Heidelberg where he got help to come back to Tsakane,” she adds.

Mngomezulu urges residents to be vigilant and aware of these criminals masquerading as police officers.

They are also pleading to anyone who might have witnessed this incident or who can identify the suspects to come forward.

“Police are working hard in making sure that these kinds of crimes and other crimes are prevented and to make sure that all perpetrators are arrested and brought to book.”
