Dan Radebe Primary School learner awarded scholarship

Former Dan Radebe Primary School learner Siyabonga Qasha (13) received a fully paid scholarship to study at the Esselen Park Sport of Excellence.

Duduza – Former Dan Radebe Primary School learner Siyabonga Qasha (13) received a fully paid scholarship to study at the Esselen Park Sport of Excellence.

The young midfielder was spotted during the schools’tournaments which took place in the Coca Cola games in Duduza and Danone games in Germiston. These games took place last year between June and August.

His former coach Thabang Ngubeni says his hard work has paid off, and made the scouts to select him.

“I started working with Siyabonga in 2015.

“He is a disciplined learner, listens attentively and knows how to take instructions.

“He has always worked hard, takes his work very seriously and understands the importance of teamwork,” says Ngubeni.

The 13-year-old says soccer has always been his passion.

“My love for soccer has always been with me, and I am thankful to my dad, coach and former educators who made it possible for me to thrive in the sport.

“I have learnt a lot from them, including how to balance my school work and my love of soccer.

“I am looking forward to learning both on the pitch and in the classroom,” he says.

He adds that he is ecstatic and wants to make his family proud.

“No words can express how happy I am. I want to acquire as much knowledge as possible, and to make my parents proud, especially my dad as he has always supported me.

“He has always been involved, and coaches me as well from time to time,” he explains.

School principal Malamlela Nxumalo says: “Such achievement serves as an inspiration and motivation to our learners and the community.

“We are super excited for him, and we wish him all the best, and may he continue to represent and fly the flag high.

“To have a learner from Duduza achieving as much as he has done at such a tender age, sends a message that nothing is impossible.”
