Goede residents are tired of illegal dumpings
“Moving forward, we are going to carry out a citizens arrest and involve the police.”
Kwa-Thema – “It doesn’t make sense that people clean their yards and decide to dump the rubbish on someone else’s doorstep.”
These were the words of aggrieved resident Patrick Tsololi of Goede in Kwa-Thema.
When the African Reporter met with concerned residents at an illegal dumping site at the corner of Joe Mzamane and Marule streets, fresh carcasses were found.
It is reported that people from neighbouring sections in Kwa-Thema dump their rubbish in an open space, which is close to the houses.

“They dump carcasses and other rubbish, making it difficult for us to sit outside because of the bad smell. There are flies all over the place.
“We even took it upon ourselves to mark the area as a non-dumping site but they ignore the sign. We try to burn some of the dumped material to keep the area clean but soon after you would find someone has emptied their bins again,” he explained.
Another resident, Robert Mkhonza, urged residents to dump their refuse at designated sites.
“Let us consider other people’s health. We are even considering opening a car wash to rehabilitate the site, at least that way something good will come out of it.
“Moving forward, we are going to carry out a citizen’s arrest and involve the police,” he added.
