Campaign to address substance abuse to be held
The event will take place at Emqashi, at the old Usave, on Friday from 10am till late.
Duduza – Letha Ithemba Elisha NPO has partnered with the Department of Social Development for a substance-abuse awareness campaign.
The event will take place at Emqashi, at the old Usave, on Friday from 10am till late.
The community is invited to attend the campaign.
NPO founder Lucky Kgomo said the event will highlight important factors about substance abuse.
“It is important that people know about substance abuse and how it affects the community.
“In Duduza, we have seen an increase in the number of people abusing drugs.

“The campaign will help residents with much-needed information on drug abuse and what alternatives there are for a substance abuser or parents,” said Kgomo.
The NPO prides itself on assisting drug addicts with skills development, rehabilitation and integration into the community.
“Substance abuse affects the parents as much as it affects the users.
“But families are most affected as with time, substance users become aggressive, which can be life-threatening to those who live with them.
“As such, we are encouraging parents to also come to the event as it will also benefit them,” he said.
