Pastors from Faith Based Organisation join the fight against drugs in schools

Kwa-Thema – Pastors from Faith Based Organisation visited Tsakani Extension Eight Secondary School on Tuesday after reports of a number of learners battling drug addiction.
Past Andila Madiba-Tila said they are concerned about the growing number of learners who are becoming addicted to drugs.
“It is also worrying that drug dealers in the area are forcing these learners to sell the drugs within the school premises.

“We were shocked when we received a call from a member of the school’s governing body, who is also a member of our organisation, asking for our intervention.
“On Tuesday after speaking to the learners, one of those who are struggling with drug addiction approached us, pleading to be assisted in kicking the habit.
“This is heartbreaking to us as parents,” he said.
Chairperson of the organisation Phillip Ndwandwe urged parents to help fight the growing scourge of drugs in local schools.
“This is not a matter that can be fought only by the teachers. We need all the members of the community to step up,” he said.
