Residents receive food parcels from local church

“It is heartbreaking to hear a parent pleading for food donations to help feed their children.

Tsakani – Food parcels were recently distributed to 104 disadvantaged residents from Langaville by the Tabernacle Ministry of God Church in Geluksdal.

Ward committee member Sibongile Myeka, who works with women and children, received a request from the church for help.
“Since I had a list of affected families I was able to facilitate the donation. Many of our residents are unemployed since lockdown and are surviving hand to mouth,” said Myeka.

“It is heartbreaking to hear a parent pleading for food to help feed their children. Some of the children are forced to go to bed on an empty stomach and their only meals are those they receive from school feeding schemes,” she explained.
Myeka added that they are hoping the donations will help until some of them can find employment to sustain their families.
She is also pleading and encouraging other donors to come forward.
