Joe Mzamani Road construction halted again

Kwa-Thema – The promise of completing the construction of Joe Mzamani Road in February was short-lived.
Only a few weeks after making the promises to complete the work in a month, workers downed tools, demanding their pay two days before their pay date.
They allegedly prevented the sub-contractor from priming the road.
Joe Nzamane Road construction back on track
The 100m project was supposed to be completed in December, but due to delayed payments and lack of materials, the completion has been delayed.
Ward councillor Wilson Busakwe said the sub-contractor claimed to have incurred damages of about R100 000.
“The sub-contractor refused to resume work due to the damages and demanded to be paid before resuming work.
Joe Mzamani Road construction resumed
“He removed all his equipment from the site and has not returned,” he explained.
Busakwe added the City of Ekurhuleni is in talks with the sub-contractor and as soon as they reach an agreement, work will resume.
Work still to be completed includes priming the road and road markings.
“We are expecting this to be wrapped up within a month,” he added.
