Learning delayed due to facility issues

Kwatsaduza – A local NPO, For The Youth By The Youth, has collaborated with Atvance Academy to offer free scholarships to the unemployed youth of Kwatsaduza and Springs.
The initiative is supposed to be a 12-month learning programme which will benefit 300 unemployed youth.
However, learning has been delayed as the programme was initially meant to have started in March.

According to NPO coordinator Jack Komane, their venue cannot accommodate 200 to 300 people.
He is appealing to community leaders to assist them with a venue.
“Our facility is too small for us to maintain social distancing.
“We have been searching for a bigger venue without any success.
“So far we have registered 162 students,” he said.
Komane said interested youth can still submit their applications.
The programme is open to youth aged 18 to 27.
“We are encouraging young people who have completed matric and those who would like to complete matric to join our programme.

“Students will choose and register for one course and will be studying SETA-accredited courses.
“The academy will be paying for the tuition and study material.
“However, there will be no stipend or transport allowance,” added Komane.
Courses include:
• Project support services (National Certificate NQF3)
• Wholesale and retail operations (National Certificate NQF2)
• Information technology technical support (FET Certificate NQF4)
• New venture creation (National Certificate NQF2)
• Contact centre support (National Certificate NQF2)
• Business administration services (National Certificate NQF3).
