Africa Day celebrated

Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on May 25, 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world.

Kwa-Thema – Kopano Disabled Movement joined the world in celebrating Africa Day on Wednesday.

Members of the Kopano Disabled Movement celebrated Africa Day.

It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world.
Dressed in traditional outfits, the members sang and danced in their African languages to show off their heritage with other members of the organisation.
They also shared traditional meals which included samp, pap, mogodu and masonja that was washed down with gemere/ginger beer.

The centre’s chairperson, Sthembiso Mndebele, said they are proud to be African and hold their heritage in high esteem.
“As a continent, we have a rich heritage and people from neighbouring continents flock here to learn about our heritage.

“I am an African because Africa is in me,” he said.
