Bread company truck hijacked in Kwa-Thema

Kwa-Thema – Truck drivers for Blue Ribbon were hijacked in Kwa-Thema on Saturday afternoon.
It is alleged the employees were parked outside a store in the area to collect money on behalf of the company.
The driver was left inside the truck while his colleague went inside.
Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Sgt Nkululeko Magudulelo said a white Nissan NP200 appeared from the opposite direction and stopped next to the driver’s window.
“Suddenly, the driver heard the cocking of a gun and when he turned to look to his right-hand side, he saw two unknown men, one of whom pointed a firearm at him.

“His accomplice, who was standing next to the armed suspect, pulled up his shirt to show the driver a firearm.
“The complainant managed to jump out of the truck through the passenger door and ran from the scene,” he explained.
The driver and his colleague later went back to the scene to find the truck no longer there.
Through the help of the tracker fitted in the truck, it was later recovered along Madiwana Street in Deep Levels, Kwa-Thema.
The safe was forced open and an estimated amount of R11 000 was taken, along with a few loaves of bread and a cellphone valued at R5 000.
